Secrets abound in the world of wine-making. Secret vineyards, secret blends, secrets of the cellar – our Winemaker, Joe Tapparo, is a man of countless secrets. He carefully searches each of California’s growing regions for vineyards best suited to the varietals he crafts. He looks to Paso Robles for lush, ripe Cabernet Sauvignon, Monterey County for crisp, refreshing Chardonnay and the windswept Santa Lucia Highlands for bright, red-fruit driven Pinot Noir. Inside the cellar, all JT would reveal is that he uses French, American and Hungarian oak barrels for aging. Once the wines have aged, it’s time to create the final secret blends.

TIMBRE (pronounced TAM·ber or TIM·ber) is the “color” of music. It is what makes two voices sound different even when singing the same song. It is why two winemakers working with the same vineyards make unique wine. As a terroir-driven winery, we make wines expressive of the places and times from which they came. As winemakers, we channel those sites through our experience adding our own mark – our TIMBRE – to the resulting wines.
Founded by sommelier Joshua Klapper and best friend Alex Katz, TIMBRE WINERY is the culmination of years of hard work, insatiable passion for amazing wine, and dedication to the crafting of said wine. It is winemaking expressed through the universal language of musical sound.
We strive to make nuanced, balanced, and generous wines of distinction. That means starting with world-class vineyard sources that have all the magic ingredients… that perfect combination of soil, climate, and sustainable farming practices. It extends to the minimally invasive winemaking techniques that have been used for centuries. Punch downs and pump-overs by hand and decisions made by tasting and smelling. Our winemaking philosophy is simple:
- Develop relationships with the most outstanding vineyards;
- Harvest at the right balance of natural acidity, potential alcohol, and flavor development;
- Let the fruit express its sense of place and time by employing a light touch in the cellar.
TIMBRE WINERY is committed to giving back to the land from which our nourishment comes. To that end we use sustainable practices in our vineyard and product sourcing as well as our production.

Vino Noceto has been making "California's Best Sangiovese" for over 25 years. Located in beautiful Amador County, we now make eight different Sangioveses as well as an Old Vine Zinfandel, a slightly sparkling Moscato called Frivolo, Barbera, a Tuscan Red Blend, Pinot Grigio, and more!
Why Noceto? Noceto means walnut grove in Italian, and walnuts were a staple crop for the farm where the Noceto estate now stands. Noceto, Italy, near Parma, is the sister city of Suzy’s native town of Walnut Creek. Plus the name is short, simple, and easily said if not necessarily properly pronounced!

"Wapisa" is the indigenous Patagonian word for "whale." Not only do whales frequent the nearby coast of our vineyards, but a local legend talks of a wapisa that actually lived on land. Our wines, like the wapisa, are an expression not just of their soils but of the nearby ocean as well. From the Ortiz family.
Located in San Javier, Rio Negro, Patagonia, Argentina, Wapisa is just 25 miles from the Atlantic ocean. Wapisa is the only winery that exists in this unique coastal terroir. Our vineyard "Finca Los Acantilados" is an estate that stands out for its lime clay soils, good acidity and little organic matter. This is complemented by outstanding thermal amplitude as maritime breezes push in for the night, leading to balanced and fruity wines with a delicate varietal expression.
Signs of delight. At the foot of Göttweig Mountain, in the traditional wine-growing region Kremstal, Helma and Marlies Müller-Grossmann cultivate 10 hectares of vineyards. The ultimate aim is to create delight – in harmony with nature and top-quality. The roots for this are based in the vines of the vineyard which is cultivated gently and in consideration of climate, soil and location. The wine gets its final touch in the cellar and thus its individuality – from the hand of Helma and Marlies Müller-Grossmann.
